Convert images to WebP

WebP files are typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same look, and they support transparency like PNG. Add your pictures and the tool writes them as WebP right away.

Mode

Your files never leave this device. Everything is processed in the browser, nothing is uploaded.

    Why switch to WebP

All current browsers display WebP, and most CMS and shop platforms accept it. Lighter pictures mean a quicker first view of the page, which helps most for mobile visitors and for pages with a long gallery.

A PNG with a transparent background becomes a WebP with the same transparency, often at one fifth of the size. For photos, quality 75 is a good default.

When to keep the old format

Some email clients, older editors and print services still expect JPG or PNG. If the picture is going to be opened outside a browser, check what the target program supports before you convert everything.

    Questions

    Is WebP lossy or lossless?

This tool writes lossy WebP at the chosen quality. Alpha transparency is preserved.

Can I convert WebP back to JPG or PNG?

Yes. Add the WebP file, open the Convert mode and pick the format you need.

    What about AVIF?

AVIF is smaller still but slower to encode. It is available in the format list, and the first use downloads a larger codec.

    Will the file look different?

At quality 75 to 85 the difference is hard to see. Compare the thumbnails and adjust.
